Fire departments host fire expo

The Wilmington and North Carolina Fire Departments and New Hanover County Fire Rescue hosted the Fire Expo at Independence Mall Friday. According to Captain Kevin McDonald with New Hanover County Fire Rescue, it's important to have this event every year to teach young kids about fire safety.

Saturdaya s YachtVenture celebrates 20th anniversary of Chil

MarineMax Wrightsville Beach will be host to the 7th Annual YachtVenture gala for The Children's Museum of Wilmington this Saturday, Oct. 14, from 6 - 10 p.m. "Imagination and curiosity are not just for kids," said Harriett Loweth, past president of the Board of Directors for The Children's Museum of Wilmington. "We've set up an opportunity where you can come and explore huge yachts, all to benefit the Children's Museum."

Take Back the Night rally in downtown Wilmington

Put on by the Domestic Violence Advocacy Council and Domestic Violence Shelter and Services, the event works to raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence, while empowering survivors of domestic violence. This year's theme is Do Small Things With Great Love.
